Silver Star’s famous powder and friendly staff bring visitors back to this charming resort over and over. Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, the resort offers 2,725 skiable acres and a vertical drop of 2,500 feet. The resort’s Victorian village, with brightly colored wooden buildings, creates a special atmosphere for relaxation, dining, and shopping.
At Silver Star, snowboarders will find excellent glades and terrain features with the steep chutes and natural half-pipes of Putnam Creek, as well as a terrain park with an Olympic standard half-pipe that is lit at night. Cross-country skiers enjoy 105 kilometers (66 miles) of trails at Silver Star and the resort is often the first cross-country facility to open with natural snow each year.
The Silver Star Ski and Snowboarding School offers lessons in snowboarding, downhill, cross-country, and telemark skiing from experienced instructors. Private and group lessons are available and there are special programs designed to get the whole family out on the slopes together. Silver Star Mountain Resort has been rated number one by Ski Canada magazine for Best Family Skiing and Best Base Village.
Off-the-trail activities include snowshoeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice skating, sleigh riding, helicopter tours, and indoor rock climbing. The resort’s Tube Town provides a fun, safe place for tubing equipped with a tube lift that takes riders back to the top of the run.
