Alberta’s Rocky Mountains include well-known tourist destinations Banff National Park and Jasper National Park. The two mountain parks are connected by the scenic Icefields Parkway. Banff is located 128 km (80 mi) west of Calgary on Highway 1, and Jasper is located 366 km (227 mi) west of Edmonton on Yellowhead Highway. Five of Canada’s fourteen UNESCO World heritage sites are located within the province.

Alberta’s Canadian Rocky Mountains are legendary for the snow revered by skiers and boarders worldwide. Go by snowcat or helicopter to experience the rugged backcountry. Ski the Big 3 in Banff National Park – Lake Louise, Sunshine and Norquay less than 2 hours from Calgary International Airport. Lake Louise is one of the largest ski resorts in North America with 4,200 skiable acres offering terrain from beginner and intermediate runs to some of the Rockies most challenging backcountry terrain. Marmot Basin is located within Jasper National Park and offers 3,000 ft vertical plus basin and glade skiing. Castle Mountain primarily serves Southern Alberta and is located about 2 1/2 hours southwest of Calgary. It is renowned for it’s long steep runs and natural snow.
